Siat Gallery is thrilled to announce <The Fruits of Perseverance>, the inaugural solo exhibition of South Korean artist Kong Sookja, in the heart of Paris. This pop-up exhibition features large- and small-scale lacquer mosaic paintings created with thousand-years-old Korean artisanal techniques. One will be able to not only discover the enthralling contemporary lacquer art that will capture the eyes and mind, but also learn about the mastery of material achieved through great perseverance.
Artist Profile
KONG SOOKJA
Born in Seoul, South Korea, Kong Sookja is an artist who works with Korean lacquer, also known as ottchil, mother of pearls and eggshells. She is the pioneer in reinterpreting ottchil art with a contemporary approach.
She is currently an active member of Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, Korean Contemporary Art Shinghi Society, International Art Committee of Korea, and Seoul Fine Arts Association
