Starting from October 5th to October 22, 2022, Jeannie Lee, the director and curator of Siat Gallery, has organized “Exquisite” for NYC Jewelry Week. The exhibition features seven of the well-renowned Korean jewelry artists, Wan Hee Cho, Sowon Joo, Yong Joo Kim, Jaiik Lee, Jun Suk Min, Hye Jung Shin and Youjin Um, showcasing contemporary jewelry and craft works.

The adjective exquisite is pervasive in all areas of discussion regarding jewelry. It may be used to describe the flawless and well-executed craftmanship, the beautiful and delicate shape, or the ingenious idea embodied in the jewelry piece. Moreover, exquisite can be used to express the immense joy the wearer feels when making the first personal connection with a jewelry.

Since jewelry is an intimate form of art that is made to be put on the body, it brings forth various emotions and narratives to everyone encountering it, from the maker to the wearer and the audience. An exquisite piece of jewelry will intensify such emotions and narratives.

We hope that this exhibition will become a source for jewelry enthusiasts from all over the world to discover exquisiteness presented in the unique styles of the seven Korean artists.
